“Good teaching cannot be reduced to technique; good teaching comes from the identity and integrity of the teacher...Good teachers weave the fabric that joins them with students and subject, the heart is the loom on which the threads are tied,…teaching tugs at the heart, opens the heart, even breaks the heart-and the more one loves teaching, the more heartbreaking it can be” (Palmer, 1998).
I believe that every student has a right to learn to his or her fullest potential.
I believe that it is my job as a teacher to create an enjoyable and safe environment for all of my students in which they can grow and discover power and love of music.
I believe that it is my job as a teacher to give my students the tools that they need in order to survive in the 21stCentury multimedia world.
I am a learner and a child at heart. Whether it is writing songs, building sets or listening to hip-hop, my students know that I am a part of their team.I feel that my life is a journey of continuous improvement. I hope that as I travel through my teaching journey, I will become a life-long learner who continues to look for better strategies and techniques to share the love for music with my students. I want to be able to give them the ultimate gift: understanding the power and beauty of music.
